Terms of Use
Last updated: 5 July 2026
These terms govern your use of The Summit Social mobile app and website ("TSS", "we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use TSS.
1. Who can use TSS
- You must be 18 or older. We verify this by date of birth at signup.
- One account per person; keep your login secure; you're responsible for activity on your account.
2. Climbing is dangerous — read this
Climbing, bouldering and mountaineering can cause serious injury or death. TSS is a logbook, planner and community — it is not instruction, not a safety device, and never a substitute for your own judgement, competence and equipment checks.
Venue information, approach descriptions, grades, community posts and weather data in the app are provided for general information only. They may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Conditions change. You alone are responsible for assessing whether a climb, venue or conditions are safe for you. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for injury, death, loss or damage arising from climbing activity, reliance on information in the app, or meetups arranged through it.
3. Your content
- You own what you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host and display it inside TSS so the app can function — nothing more. The licence for a piece of content ends when you delete it (except reported content preserved for moderation, per our Privacy Policy).
- Only post what you have the right to post. No other people's photos without their consent.
4. Community rules
- No harassment, hate, threats, or targeting of other users.
- No sexual, violent or otherwise illegal content.
- No spam, scraping, impersonation, or attempts to break or probe the service's security.
- Respect access rules and the environment at climbing venues — posts encouraging access violations or environmental damage may be removed.
Users can report content. Reported content may be hidden automatically pending review. We may remove content or suspend/terminate accounts that break these rules. You can block any user in the app.
5. Coaching marketplace
- TSS is an intermediary platform: coaches offer their services to climbers through the app. Coaches are independent — they are not our employees, and their qualifications are self-declared. TSS does not certify, endorse or verify coaches.
- Any coaching agreement, and any payment for coaching, is strictly between you and the coach. Coach invoices and payment links in the app are provided by the coach; we are not a party to the transaction and do not process the payment.
- Do your own diligence before hiring a coach — check their qualifications and insurance yourself.
6. Subscriptions
- TSS offers optional paid tiers. Billing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — manage or cancel anytime in your store subscription settings. Prices are shown in-app before purchase.
- Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period runs to its end. Refunds follow Apple/Google store policies.
- Free tier limits (such as monthly log saves) are described in the app and may change with notice.
7. The service
- We provide TSS "as is". We work hard to keep it available and your data safe, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service.
- We may update, change or discontinue features. If we ever discontinue the service entirely we'll give reasonable notice so you can export your data.
- We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms. You can delete your account anytime in Settings.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for fraud, or death/personal injury caused by our negligence). Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data caused by events outside our reasonable control, or the acts of other users (including coaches).
9. General
- These terms are governed by the laws of Norway, and disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts (unless mandatory consumer law in your home country gives you additional protections).
- If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- We may update these terms; material changes will be flagged in the app and the date above updated. Continuing to use TSS after changes means you accept them.
